Dundee chooses SCP for attenuation tank expertise… 01-11-2011
Stormwater Attenuation delivers long term sustainability
Northampton, UK 31st October, 2011 – GEA 2H Water Technologies Ltd stormwater management equipment suppliers and SCP Environmental Ltd, specialists in bespoke environmental projects, have recently supplied a stormwater attenuation scheme developed for a housing project in Dundee.
GEA 2H’s MD Richard Manning “Dundee Council Planning Department had set demanding specifications for this housing development and as a result of this, GEA 2H GEOdekTM was specified as the preferred media for the application.”
In order to meet the sustainability requirements for load bearing and lifespan, extensive calculations were made to ensure that all areas of the tanked structure would support the local loading weights whilst meeting the specified requirement of a 30 year minimum design lifespan.
Achieving this high degree of specification was achieved by the planning department’s use of GEA 2H’s unique Stormwater Calculation Programme, which enabled detailed calculation of media type at design stage to determine the best mix of media grades for the application.
The seven grades of GEOdekTM media available meant that an early design exercise was able to identify a bespoke solution to optimise media choice and cost – a unique flexibility and choice offered when using GEOdekTM media.
For this application the use of two grades of GEOdekTM media was identified as the best solution, giving both structural stability and enhanced savings on the cost of the project.
SCP Environmental Chairman Andrew Bygate commented “GEA 2H’s extensive knowledge of SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) enabled SCP to develop an excellent technical and commercial solution for Dundee Council. Working together SCP and GEA 2H offered a full service from design application and technical support through to installation.”
